Changquan Basic Set No.2
Changquan (Longfist style) originated from Northern style Chinese boxing and is characterised by long, low stances and wide sweeping arm movements and strikes.
Key steps in this second basic form are the false leg stance in steps 5 and 14 and the slap kick in steps 7 and 16. The false leg stance demands a lot of power in one leg which needs to be almost at right angle. Development of power in the legs can be achieved by practising the horse stance (ma-pu) daily. In the slap kick the raised leg should be straight. The important thing is that the instep of the foot should hit the palm and not the other way round.
